Emma is about 26 inches tall now (when she stands straight up) which means she's grown 7 inches since she was born.

Snow Day #2
Emma is enjoying another snow day with her mom today. Here she is babbling away in her swing. Last night she went to visit Great Pawp who is getting better in rehab after being in the hospital. He was so happy to see Emma to tell her how he is feeling much better and stronger every day.

Happy 7 Month Birthday!
It's hard to believe Emma is seven months old today. She has grown and changed so much. She is cutting her first teeth- we can feel that they are just about ready to show themselves. She weighed 17 pounds at her last checkup and is now in the 75th percentile for height and weight. At her last checkup at the Cleveland Clinic, her dermatologist said that her hemangioma seems to have stopped growing, and it is even starting to recede a bit. Here Emma is in her new carseat. She looks tiny in it now, but she will be able to use it until she is 50 pounds.

Today was week #3 of gym and swim for Emma. Her Grandma and Grandpa Lieberg came and her Grandpa took some great pictures, including this one of Emma's instructor pushing her back to her dad.

snow day
Today Emma's mom had a snow day so they got to have an extra day of fun together. Emma played, ate oatmeal and pears, and then took a three hour nap which allowed her mom to get some work done.

polka dot bathing suit
Last night at gym and swim Emma went all the way under the water! She came up and blinked a few times, but otherwise was fine.
had to take a picture
While Emma's mom was walking down the hall this morning at school, she saw this on the wall. It was made by Beth and Wendy and it is so cute!
our little football player
Emma tried prunes for the first time today. Some of them didn't quite make it to her mouth though...

sitting in a winter wonderland
Today Emma truly experienced snow for the first time. We put on her snowsuit and sat her into it for a few seconds. There were snowflakes landing on her eyelashes and she didn't seem to enjoy that too much! Guess we'll have to wait a little bit longer to pull out the sled!
sitting up
What is different about this picture of Emma, you ask? She is sitting up unassisted! We tried this Friday night and we are really excited that Emma can do this on her own now. We have known that she was getting close, but she would always tip over sideways after a few seconds. She did fall back a few times, so we decided to put a few couch pillows behind her for the time being.

Gym-n-Swim
Emma had her first Gym and Swim class at the YMCA tonight. It was fun for us but not as much for Emma. The class falls during one of her eating times so she was a bit on the cranky side by the end of it. We will have to work on changing her schedule a bit so she can be more happy and have more fun with all the other babies in her class.

Emma and Tanner
Tanner came over to visit Emma and exchange Christmas presents. He was all dressed up, and Emma wore her leopard print pants and new turtleneck.
you look different
Emma was getting a look at Tanner, who has changed a lot since the last time they saw each other!
Hey... wait a minute!
We went to change Emma's diaper and there was something strange about the changing table.... Abby was sleeping there! She allowed Emma to lean on her for a minute, and then she decided to get out of the way.

Happy New Year!
Today we had our traditional pork and sauerkraut dinner with the whole family. Emma must still be tired from staying up last night because she is sleeping in this picture! (Actually she was in bed by 9pm last night. She'll have to wait until she's a little bit older before she can stay up to ring in the new year!)
Happy Retirement
Grandma Ristau is now officially retired as Head of Circulation at the KPL; however she is now working full-time as Emma's daytime caregiver. We celebrated her semi-retirement with dinner and dessert. We are proud of Emma's Grandma for all her hard work at the library and we are very thankful that she agreed to watch Emma while her mommy and daddy are at work.
Maggie Sniffing Emma's Head
Grandma and Grandpa Ristau's dog Maggie really likes Emma! She is very protective of her and likes to sniff her from time to time.
